Faculty

Or “Tuesday” or “Friday.” Occasionally, even “Monday.” The fact is, every day at SAS is filled with engaging and inspiring learning. And our faculty are the ones who make it happen. We attract and retain leading educators who share and embody the school's Mission, creating a passion for lifelong learning – every day at SAS.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Your child’s experience in these years at SAS will orbit around building essential skills in pre-literacy, curiosity, discovery, and cooperation. With an Early Childhood program inspired by the Reggio Emilia framework, students are supported socially, emotionally, and academically as they explore their self and their world. All our students are seen as unique individuals with incredible potential, and we journey alongside them each day in this era of monumental growth. You will see that the programs, learning spaces, and our passions are fully geared to nurture in each child a deep love of learning, and all the tools necessary for thriving in the elementary years ahead.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In the elementary years, your child is building a core foundation for the years ahead. At the heart of this is literacy, and the ways it is infused throughout all subject areas, as well as a deep, conceptual approach to math. Meanwhile, as student interests grow by leaps and bounds, their health, well-being, and curiosity are supported with endless opportunities for exploration, from construction in the maker spaces to performances on the stage. Students will further their work with the transdisciplinary skills of SAS, evident in the ways they continue to develop into critical thinkers, effective collaborators, skillful communicators, creative learners, and ethical global citizens, in preparation for the opportunities and growth ahead in Middle School and beyond.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Here in the SAS middle school, our problem-based learning approach combined with a love of innovation and inquiry will propel your child into new levels of independence and thinking. As from the start, education here is intentionally designed and student-centered. Alongside a robust academic experience in the classroom this is also a time of incorporating thoughtful experiential learning beyond the gates of SAS. In fact, many of our Signature Programs have been designed specifically for the middle school years, extending the ways we engage our students, their budding interests, and their growing sense of self. Building their self-efficacy and awareness prepares them to become masters of their own learning during Middle School, with everything needed to be ready for their last four years at SAS.

HIGH SCHOOL

High school at SAS is an experience in individualized academic excellence. No strangers to a challenge, our students meet an array of course options with the opportunities and support available to truly fulfill their potential. While it is easiest to reference our college lists and AP and IB scores as indicators of success, our students are culminating years of experience at SAS in critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and ethical global citizenship. Students here have the ability to craft their personalized pathway through a high school experience that, our alumni //confirm/i/i, prepares them for what’s next. And what’s after that. And after that. And…
